Looking for the perfect classic cocktail? Look no further. The Old Fashioned as we know it today actually came from the original “cocktail” – way back in 1806. The cocktail originally used simply sugar, water, bitters, ice, lemon peel, and whiskey. Since we have certainly evolved from then – so must our cocktails, right? This is a more modern old fashioned (oxymoron??). I even used Hiram Walker Triple Sec to make it a bit sweeter! To be perfectly honest, I’m not really an Old Fashioned connoisseur. It’s a bit strong for me so this recipe is perfect for someone who’s feeling adventurous but doesn’t want to black out the rest of their evening I also used Jameson Irish Whiskey which led us to our new name of “Irish Old Fashioned”. So let’s drink up!
- 1 tbsp of Simple Syrup
- 1 tbsp of Water
- 2 dashes of Bitters
- 2 ice cubes
- 2 shots of Jameson Irish Whiskey
- ½ shot of Hiram Walker Triple Sec
- Orange Juice
- 1 Orange Slice
- Using a nice cocktail glass, combine simple syrup, water, bitters, triple sec and whiskey. Add 2 ice cubes, then fill the rest of the glass with orange juice. Add the orange slice to the side of the glass as a garnish. Ta da!
This is a super easy cocktail to mix up and it’s one you are sure to enjoy. Let us know how it goes!
